What is a Newbie Anyway:

Word Origin: Newbie - 1993

Reference site: Site Reference

It was the year of the newbies, upsetting the cozy cyber-community (1994) on the Internet (1988). Remember? Time wrote in December 1993, "Instead of feeling surrounded byinformation, first-timers ('newbies' in the jargon of the Net) are likely to find themselves adrift in a borderless sea." The next year Info World complained, "Because so manynewbees are logging in every day, it is getting harder and harder to get connected to those information sources that are popular.

Newbie is especially popular in, and seems to have been popularized through, the informal communications which abound on the Internet listservers--those electronic bulletin boardswhere subscribers are supposed to stick to the topic, but frequently digress, especially if they are newbies. Such digressions can prompt flame wars (1992) from the regulars.
Before they burgeoned on the Internet, newbees played football. Here is a report on the San Diego Chargers from the Los Angeles Times of August 1985: "It had to do with newbees. Icould be wrong on the spelling, but newbees are the rookies among the Blue Angels. Three of these newbees happened to be having a peaceful lunch when suddenly they were calledupon to sing. This is what happens to rookies--or newbees--at the Charger training camps." References to newbies in the military, the mafia, and politics also predate theexplosive popularity of newbie among Internet users.
Newbie probably owes some connection in its construction to Wannabe (1981) and freebie (1942) and even the much older used-to-be (1853) and wouldbe (1605). The spelling stillvaries between newbie and newbee, though the pronunciation is the same in either case.

When I first come to the internet in July of 1999 there were a lot of computer geeks and professional developers on the internet but few newbies in comparison to today. They wereso busy with developing, and building software solutions that they had no time for training those who were coming to the internet. Now here is something that you don't know. Manyof those who were on then are gone today. They either moved on to something else or stepped up to IT organizations or their own. Back then I struggled with the intent to learn. Itwas hard becasue I spent more than ten hours a day on the computer. But I persisted until I had the knowledge I needed.
I built two websites between December of 1999 until April of 2000, when I created my first website as an affiliate site. Ihad over a thousand webpages on that site. I lot of work to figure out where to put content and how to display it. Then there were the articles that had to be written. As a matterof fact I got very irritated at these developers because they mislead me. But that just fired me up even more to learn. Because I saw it as an attempt to keep me down and fromexcelling at something that I really wanted to do. To me if you are going to teach something, teach it thoroughly, don't just give part of the information and look like you are aknow it all.
I finally started surfing the net looking for websites that had any form of training at all. I found a lot of them, but the only thing I finally realized was just like theinterent marketing gurus they will only give you part of the information and purposely leave out something important so that you don't acheive a level of success. Now here is thereason as simple as it seems, they don't want to loose the potential for their business to grow.
What does that mean to you and me? They want the money so they can gloat and strute and show off like all that wisdom and knowledge was theirs and they are something important. Now I know that we were all created equal, but in the business world just like in the jungle it is survival of the fittest. The newbie is left out in the cold to struggle forthemeselves. I will say one thing. Persistence pays off. Never give up, never say die.
In summing this all up a newbee or newbie, is someone who is new at something when first starting out. They seem to have a lot of questions and want to take up the time of thosewho are seasoned who are busy conducting a living on the internet. Newbie and the alternate spellings are often used for one of two different meanings. Newbie is usually used torefer to a new person who has recently joined the group of bored, and is a rank default on InvisionFree forums. Se
